Lawn, surface from the everyday life
In order to take a different perspective of the materials that cover our soils, we investigated the lawn. Indeed, this material has been shaping the landscapes of our cities for more than 200 years: flowerbeds, parks, central medians, gardens, it is everywhere. But those “green spaces” are they anything else than generic and neutral surfaces where nothing happens? Some empty fields in the city? We worked on the territory of Ganshoren whose lawn cover more than 20% of the ground municipality. We tried to understand why and how it emerged on the territory. With the projet, we tried to answer to the neutrality of the lawn: how to activate this neutral surface while keeping the same material: grass.
